A gold color metal and enamel device 1 inch (2.54 cm) in height overall consisting of a green silhouette of a mountain of five peaks surmounted overall vertically by a gold double-bladed battle-ax, handle to base, between two gold truck wheels of five spokes, dual parallel brick red scrolls curving up from around the wheel on the left, passing over the ax handle and terminating around the top of the wheel on right, the upper scroll inscribed "TURNING" and the lower scroll inscribed "WHEELS" in gold letters.
Brick red and golden yellow (gold) are the colors used for the Transportation Corps, and the wheels are symbolic of trucking. The battle-ax represents power to lead the way, significant of the unit's mission and the double blade connotes the swiftness and readiness in either direction. The ax also symbolizes all arms and equipment used in the unit's overall operation. The green mountain alludes to Vermont, the organization's present location.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 28 September 1971.
